Jim LaPaso lives and works in his studio in Kyle, Texas, south of Austin. He began his artistic career at an early age, learning to carve wooden furniture with his father. Starting in 1998 he began to focus on “Kinetic Sculpture”, using copper and stainless steel as his primary mediums. LaPaso’s work has been featured in shows in Santa Fe, NM, New Orleans, LA, Houston, TX. Nashville, TN, and elsewhere across the country. His sculptures focus on movement, and LaPaso enjoys the dichotomy of turning heavy and unyielding metals into pieces of art that float like feathers.
