Joseph Havel is a postmodernist American sculptor who is a master of transforming the domestic and mundane into the poetic and timeless. He describes his artistic process as uncovering “the activity of still objects.” Havel received a National Endowment for the Arts Artist Fellowship in 1987 and a Louis Comfort Tiffany Artist’s Fellowship in 1995. He lives and works in Houston and is director of the Glassell School of Art.
